Demand Planning Analyst

Role

Based in Western Canada (British-Columbia or Alberta) and under the direction of the Director Demand Planning, the Demand Planning Analyst is a key support role that will have Western Canadian region scope for all aspects of forecasting, and planning. Working in collaboration with Sales and Brand Portfolio management. He/she is responsible for supporting the Director Demand Planning in the transformation of the demand planning function as well as supporting the Logistics Manager with specific aspects of supply chain management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of baseline sales forecasts by item, region, supplier and channel based on demand patterns, business trends, promotions and discounts for review and update by the Sales team.
  • Support the integrity and smooth functioning of Demand Planning systems and contribute to the improvement of tools used for key processes.
  • Support the LE and Budgetary process at the national level.
  • Help maintain demand planning systems to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Analyze discrepancies in forecasted vs. realized sales, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations on how to adjust the forecast and improve accuracy. He or she will be in contact with key people in each of the main sales regions and will contribute to the analysis used to optimize the demand plan, shipments and inventory.
  • Interact with Sales, Portfolio Management, and other key partners to understand demand forecast drivers.
  • Ensure that new items and discontinued items are properly tabulated in the demand planning systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels in customer warehouse to avoid out of stocks based on demands and plan transfers of inventory between British-Columbia and Alberta.
  • Support the Director Demand Planning to drive key initiatives and strategic projects within the organization including improving processes, tools and ways of working collaboratively with stakeholders in other functions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Accounting.
  • 3-5 years of experience in similar roles of demand planning, forecasting & replenishment, and/or logistics.

Skills

  • A rigorous work approach and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills: advanced proficiency in processing numerous, complex files and with the systems used.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from different cultures, regions and departments
  • Self-sufficiency, sense of initiative and ability to multitask
  • Bilingual (french and english)
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Windows, Excel, SQL) and knowledge of forecasting systems
  • Ability to analyze large quantities of data
  • Experience in the wine and spirits industry is an asset[JD1]
  • Experience in CPG an asset
