intro background
Argentine’s wine country stretches more than 2,000 kilometers along the Cordillera in the Andes mountains. In Mendoza’s Cradle of Malbec, the wines are distinguished by their marked personalities, making them a big hit with New World wine lovers.

El Esteco

It all started in 1892, when David Michel and Gabriela Torino founded the El Esteco winery. It quickly became one of the first institutions in Argentina to master the art of viticulture and winemaking.

An exclusive terroir

Perched 1,800 meters up in northern Argentina’s Calchaquíes valleys, El Esteco represents one of the highest wine-growing regions in the world. El Esteco boasts nearly 1,000 hectares of vineyards, located high above sea level between lush vegetation and the Andes. The Calchaquíes valleys are a veritable treasure for the world of winemaking. This remote extension of the desert possesses unique features and ideal characteristics that produce some of the finest wines in the world.

The region’s outstanding qualities, as well as the expertise and passion of the El Esteco staff, meant that David Michel was quickly recognized in the industry for the superior quality of his wines. The elegant wines of El Esteco are characterized by profound aromas and well-defined flavours, reflecting a truly extraordinary soil.
