Tsantali

Tsantali has been crafting wines and distilling ouzo in Greece since 1890. Renowned for their tireless efforts to promote Greek wines around the world, the Tsantali family has also been instrumental in preserving native grape varieties and revitalizing forgotten vineyard sites across the country. The Tsantali family is among the oldest wine families in Greece.

The First Family of Greek Wine

This remarkable story of 125-years captures significant milestones of the Greek history and cherishes the wilpower of the human spirit. Through an adventurous route starting with the migration from homeland in early 20th century and the relocation in Serres and later on in Thessaloniki, today the Tsantali family carries on the family heritage rendering TSANTALI the major ambassador of Wines and Distillates from Greece around the globe. Evangelos Tsantalis, second generation winemaker and one of the most charismatic figures in the Greek winemaking history, played a pivotal role in reviving the concept of terroir in Greece. While the torch has long been passed to the 3rd and 4th generations of the family, Evangelos’ vision remains a driving force for Tsantali Vineyards & Wineries.

With vineyards spread across the finest growing regions of northern Greece, like Mount Athos, Rapsani, Halkidiki and Maronia, Tsantali is revered for the consistent high quality of their bold red and refreshing white wines. The vineyard has always been the core of the Tsantali philosophy. The rejuvenation of some of the most exquisite vineyards in Northern Greece is attributed to the family’s vision; thanks to the Tsantali’s dedication and strategic investment, today outstanding traditions are safely kept, biodiversity and native grapes are preserved, and incentive has been given to younger vine growers and winemakers. Tsantali was the first Greek winery to implement sustainable viticulture on a large scale and is now the leading certified organic wine producer in Greece. Since 2012, TSANTALI is the exclusive distributor of SANTO WINES contributing to the establishment of the new SANTORINI brand.
