The company was founded in 1877 by Sir Alexander Williams, a great admirer and connoisseur of sherry products, and Arthur Humbert, a specialist in international relations. In the 1960s, members of the Medina family, José, Nicolas, Jesus and Ángel, created their own winery under the name of José Medina y Compania.

Their latest acquisition was that of the international group Williams & Humbert, which today lends its name to all the family’s business activities.
